Investing in the future of Â鶹´«Ã½
September 9, 2014
Professor for the MBA program and consultant with the Tian Shan Policy Center at Â鶹´«Ã½, Seth Fearey is donating $2,000 to Â鶹´«Ã½. $1,000 will go to the Tian Shan Policy Center where he has been working this summer. The other $1,000 goes to the construction of the new Â鶹´«Ã½ campus.
“I saw the construction of the Â鶹´«Ã½ new campus. It is a great building and it has a great design. I am looking forward to see the Â鶹´«Ã½ campus in future”, Professor Fearey said.
Seth Fearey has been working and living in Bishkek for five years. When he was Country Director for the Peace Corps, Seth was one of the first people to buy a brick for the donor wall at the new campus. Seth is now buying a few more bricks to share his best wishes with the students of Â鶹´«Ã½.
Seth has been very engaged with Alumni Relations office and was the first speaker to kick off Guest Lecture series in 2014-2015 academic year with his talk “Surfing Waves of Change” on economic and community development projects he was involved in during his 30+ years in Silicon Valley.
Professor Fearey has been a generous supporter of current students via Â鶹´«Ã½ special co-funding programs such as KIVA. Last year, Seth made a loan to Ruslan, NGA freshman.
Teaching at Â鶹´«Ã½ is Seth’s first experience of teaching, but as he compares students of MBA in Â鶹´«Ã½ with the student of MBA in Stanford, he says that “Here students are working and studying hard. They learn something in classes and then apply the knowledge in their work. This is very exciting. Despite this, I always receive feedbacks from my students regarding our classes; therefore, I am very glad that I was useful for these students along the courses I taught them.”
Seth Fearey notes that the cultural barrier during his classes was at the minimum level. Even though he had students from different nationalities, he didn’t have to change something during the classes.
Hereby, Â鶹´«Ã½ expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Seth Fearey for his contribution and donation towards the construction of Â鶹´«Ã½ campus and development of Â鶹´«Ã½ in general!
